Excellent and amazingly fast service! Wife had locked our keys in the truck and they were able to come out in less than 30 minutes! I lost my only key to my jeep wrangler. Called around lunchtime figuring this would take a day or two and was pleasantly surprised when John said he could come right then. He immediately understood the problem and guided me step-by-step to rotate the internal mechanism with a flathead screwdriver. No damage, no hassle, just expert knowledge and great customer service. I work for Spears Transfer and Expediting and we used John when one of our drivers accidentally locked themselves out of their truck. John was very fast and friendly and had our driver back in his truck within 15 minutes of my call to him. Would highly recommend for anyone in need of his services and in his area.
My son list his only key to a 1991 Mazda. Jon showed up and spent quite a while picking and decoding 3 very old, very worn locks. Most guys would have given up, but it was a pleasure to watch a master at his craft.The price was reasonable and completely justified. The fee to come out made perfect sense. If he had gotten here and we found the keys, he just lost an hour.We now have 3 new keys, and if we ever need more , we now know the code.Locksmithing is a true combination of art and skill, and Race City Locksmiths' Jon is a master. Adding to the many 5-star reviews here. John is local, prompt, and an expert in the trade. He arrived the same day on short notice and replaced an emergency key in my wife's truck, plus cut a couple of spares of a high-security key for me in less than an hour after pulling up.Unplanned situations like these are expensive and frustrating, but John saved me 100's of dollars and, more importantly, days of the car sitting at a dealership. Fair price + good, fast work by an expert tradesman, all in my driveway. What more do you need?
Needed to replace programmable key fob for my 2018 Ford Explorer.John was able to assist me and quickly program a replacement key and reprogram existing non-working key.As an added bonus, he was able to discover code for unlocking and locking the door.Overall cost was considerably less than a dealer

Absolutely unacceptable experience – rude, aggressive, and unprofessionalMy much younger sister recently lost her car key and called Race City Locksmith for help. The owner, John, came out and made a basic key. Later that same day, the new key he provided suddenly stopped unlocking her car, leaving her stranded in a store parking lot.She called John back, and his first response was dismissive: “Well, it worked earlier.” He then said he wasn’t available and told her to wait 30–45 minutes. I had to come pick her up, and when we returned to meet him after that time had passed, he was not there. She called him and he claimed he thought the issue had been resolved—despite never being told that.When he finally showed up, his behavior immediately crossed the line. He approached my sister and began speaking to her in a condescending, almost mocking tone, calling her by name like she was a child and asking, “What did you do to my key?” I calmly explained the key wasn’t working, and he responded rudely and aggressively, saying, “That’s why I’m here, right?” then dismissed me entirely, saying he’d only speak to her, even though she was visibly upset, crying, shaking, and having a panic attack.When I asked about upgrading to a remote-head key (which he insisted was not a key fob), he continued to speak over us, refused to calmly answer questions, and got extremely close to our faces while speaking loudly and harshly. When I asked why she paid $275 for a basic key (plus a $110 unlock fee) when another company quoted $199 for a remote key, he stated that he could charge whatever he wanted, and that it’s “the American way.”His tone and behavior throughout the entire interaction were condescending, aggressive, and deeply unprofessional—especially toward two young women simply trying to get clear answers. He showed no professionalism, no empathy, and no accountability. My sister was visibly distressed, crying and shaking, and his attitude only made things worse. I recorded the incident because from the phone call, his tone raised red flags. And based on how many similar reviews mention this same behavior, it’s clear this wasn’t an isolated event.No one—especially young women—should be spoken to like that. This experience was unprofessional, intimidating, and entirely avoidable if he had simply treated us with basic respect.His rudeness, dismissiveness, and lack of respect for women are unacceptable, and I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone.

John at Race City was awesome! From the very first interaction troubleshooting our home entry door problem to final resolution, John was quick to respond and provide recommendations that saved money and led to a great result. He went beyond the call and fixed issues with the door in addition to the entry hardware. A real pleasure to work with. This is the best our entry door has functioned in the 6 years we lived in the home! Feels very secure.
I would never think a locksmith call would be so pleasant. Called John 2 days ago with my issue with a digital lock. He told me what to do. I got it done, called him and he showed up 20 minutes later. He had the job done in 30 minutes at a totally reasonable price. His personality was super fun and hilarious. I now have a go to "key guy"

Part 2 review!! As posted earlier today was having key alarm issues. Talked to dealership just to diagnose was $240, key fob$130 plus programming. John had reached out to see how I made out and suggested I take a shot on new key and fob. Worse case I would have an extra key. So I went for it. Not only did he stop the alarm issue, he managed to get remote start to work as well for a very reasonable price!! He is honest and amazing. I would have given more than 5 stars if I could have! Thanks John!!!
John was incredibly helpful. He replace my keys with a new set that day no wait. He worked promptly and smoothly to make sure it programmed and worked well. I had another gentleman out who was unable to fix the key and John came out and made it happen super quick. 10/10 recommend.
Absolutely rude when I called.The owner was not just trying to tell me that he doesn't cut customers keys. He started the conversation off by saying that "so you bought keys on the internet and now don't know what to do with them" in a very rude tone. Your poor customer service is shown in a pattern on your reviews.

I was extremely impressed with their service. When I called, the owner answered and arrived an hour and a half later. I wish I could remember his name; he was very friendly and honest. He even saved me money with his recommendations, which is not something you see from all companies these days.
Above and beyond helpful! John came out immediately to replace and program my key, then gave me a very fair price on a key for my other vehicle, replaced it on the spot also, and even threw in a spare to open it. Wonderful service!

We unfortunately had a vehicle break in Saturday and had key fobs, house keys, and an ID with our address on it all stolen from us. And so began the process of rekeying and securing everything we own. John was the most helpful person through the whole process. He was very professional over the phone with both myself and my wife, he showed up early to do the work, he was open and honest with me, showing me where other “quality” vendors had failed me throughout the course of the week while he was rekeying our vehicles. He even took the time to show and explain to us a seemingly uncommon operating procedure for our new front door deadbolt, knowing I was probably not going to read the instructions. He went above and beyond my expectations all for a very reasonable price. Although the circumstances of our business together was unfortunate, I’m glad we got to work with John and Race City Locksmiths. Would HIGHLY recommend for any locksmith work you need.

Very responsive, quick and clean. John rekeyed my whole house and then rekeyed and programmed my ford with no issues as well.
I woke John up at 7:00 AM, we had no power and were locked out overnight. Jon was ready to roll within 15 minutes. I paid the $150 non refundable deposit, no big deal. I called John back after gaining access to my home fully expecting to pay the $150. John had not left his house and refunded $100. He did not have to refund any based on our agreement upfront. This guy is fair and I wouldn’t hesitate calling him again. You Da Man John!

Not only were they out within 30 minutes of my call to let me back into the house that I locked myself out of, but he provided some security tips, made copies of my keys, and gave me & installed a realtor lock box on my property to prevent future lockouts. All of this with a smile and a laugh. Could not recommend this company more highly!
After the keys got locked in the trunk of my sedan, they did what AAA were unable to. Arrived within 30 minutes of our first conversation. Got the job done, quicker than I expected, and had the tools and resourcefulness to do it.
This guy ripped me off pretty good. Charged me $500 for a key fob that went bad in less than 2 months. Wasn’t willing to take any kind of accountability when I called and told him about it. I strongly suggest going anywhere else for a locksmith to avoid getting robbed by race city locksmith.

Just when I thought my day couldn’t go worse it did. I lost my key fob. Well I’m a car hauler so I had a load sitting on my trailer at Manheim in statesville needing to go to Rhode Island. So after ripping my truck apart and walking all over that property some1 said call John @ Race City. Not only did he immediately answer. Once he confirmed he had my truck key & I sent payment he was there within 20mins. It took him longer to drive there than making me new set! So only thing I regret. Is not calling him sooner! Very organized, clearly very efficient & also funny dude! If you’re hesitant at all, don’t be. Just call Race City!

Reached out to the owner on a Sunday and was thrilled he was able to work with me to get a new key for my truck cut. He was extremely easy to work with and communicative. We got the new key cut, programmed, and tested. Absolutely recommend and will use again if/when needed.

No, I’m not sure if this is an every time thing, but these guys came out same day and we’re the only company in the area that make me a new key for my lost motorcycle key. Every other place I called couldn’t do it. the man was super polite and made sure everything worked properly before leaving

We had Race City update all the locks after purchasing our new home. Not only did they not have enough materials to complete the job, they didn't offer to order the necessary materials and come back to finish the job. All of this was on top of the expensive service fee. Lastly, while in our home, the owner/technician made some very sexist/rude comments to me while I was simultaneously cleaning house. I felt very uncomfortable as if I was being watched. Because of all this, I cannot recommend them.

After calling multiple locksmiths within the lake, Norman area I was able to get in touch with Ray city locksmith and he did did an amazing job first by walking through step by step they got me back on the road with in 30 minutes I would recommend re-city locksmiths to anybody family friends, even those I don’t please don’t waste your time with anybody else other than Rige City locksmith, because this man went above and beyond may greatly appreciate the great customer service that you provided and will look forward to doing business with you in the future. Unfortunately, I could not provide 0 stars for the worst customer service delivered by John from Race City Locksmith. I had asked him to create couple of keys for my sliding door lock which he did and when he got there the lock needed extra work to put inside lever back but he never bothered to put it back together as requested by tenant who lives in the property. If he is not willing to do what was requested what sort of customer service do they provide at that point. I would have gladly paid extra labor for fixing inside lever that was requested by the tenant.If you wanted confirmations for extra labor could have called but you never did and only to tell me next day that you will charge separate call fee for the day plus labor for fixing the lever that was requested the day when you were there originally.John's motivation was only towards money and not towards taking care of customers.I highly recommend skipping this company due to their worst possible customer service.
